I’ve started using a Planner and I’m loving it. Until now, I’ve been ‘winging’ my organisation, either categorizing things in my head or making quick notes that always seem to get lost among the papers on my desk. But life has got busier and there are more things to do than ever. A filing system in my head just isn’t cutting it anymore.
So I started using a Happy Planner but there are many other types on the market. Use what works for you. The thing I love about a paper planner as opposed to a computer one is that I can decorate it. Washi tape, stickers and drawings all help me get in the zone and I actually enjoy planning. I’ve found keeping records of what I write, when I write it and for how long, an invaluable tool for increasing my productivity. I seem to have found more hours in the day and this allows me time for other things I enjoy, such as gardening, painting and reading.
I’ve also made a note of the books I’ve read this year (9 so far) and journal ideas, birthday present ideas and so on. I’ve found that this keeps me on track and motivated to finish things. It’s such a handy way to organize my life I can’t believe I haven’t used a planner like this before. I do need to constantly review the planner but since it sits on my desk, next to my computer, I visit it each day and use it to plan out my next day’s activities. So if like me, you’ve been faffing around, losing hours and generally jumping from one thing to the next, give a planner a go.
