About Janis

Author Janis LinfordI’ve always loved rollicking adventure stories and when I was young I devoured books such as All the Rivers RunAnne of Green GablesThe Silver Brumby or Lord of the Rings. One week when I was eleven, I read seven of Enid Blyton’s Famous Five books, hardly leaving the comfort of an orange butterfly chair. When I returned them to the librarian a week later she said I couldn’t possibly have read them all!

Having just discovered the compelling magic of being immersed in page-turning  stories, I started writing my own and at seventeen wrote about a boy in the Pilbarra mining region of Australia. I still have this story buried in a drawer along with a poem that was published in the annual school year book.

As I grew older, I gravitated to romance. I fell in love with Georgette Heyer and historical romances that wouldn’t let me go, even to cook the dinner. My family became used to eating burnt food and exasperatedly nicknamed them ‘book dinners’. Today I write historical regency stories about spirited heroines and heroes, thrown together with plenty of exciting action.

I live with my husband and three children in Melbourne, Australia and keep busy with my oil painting, garden and Pilates.
